IUA virtual Congress

UAA Speakers and APSRUAS Members as Faculty

The 23^rd Iranian Urological Association (IUA) Congress took place in a full virtual form after a two-month postponement, hoping to achieve the feasibility to hold it as usual. But as other international events and the UAA Congress 2020 experienced, at least for this year it seems inevitable to go virtual!

IUA Congress 2020 was programmed to be in six working days (19-21 August, 26-28 August). Along with the Iranian Lecturers, there were joint meetings with five international urology or related associations (UAA, SIU, EAU, ICS and INUS). More than 20 outstanding speakers from all over the world participated as lecturers. Representatives from UAA were Professor Haruhito Azuma from Japan and Dr Zeeshan Hameed from India, both talking at a uro-oncology session.

Some of the APSRUAS founders including Jalil Hosseini (President), Omid Sedigh (Chairman, Scientific Committee) and Farzin Soleimanzadeh (Secretary) were also among the speakers.

Professor Jalil Hosseini presented a detailed discussion on bladder neck contracture management after prostatectomy. Omid Sedigh had a video-based presentation on acute-phase insertion of malleable and inflatable prostheses in patients with ischemic Priapism. Farzin Soleimanzadeh talked about technical details to be considered before and during posterior urethroplasty. There was also a debate between Sedigh and Soleimanzadeh on usages and Pros/ Cons of malleable Vs Inflatable penile prostheses.

Reconstructive and andrology topics were discussed in two separate sessions in a total of three hours. These were among the most visited sessions based on the data released by IUA Congress secretariat.
